Founder’s Day — February 17 is when National PTA celebrates the legacy and work of our founders—Alice McLellan Birney, Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and Selena Sloan Butler— to better the lives of every child in education, health and safety. It is a time to reflect and take pride in our achievements, and renew our commitment to be a powerful voice for all children, relevant resource for parents  and strong advocate for public education. The FWISD Council of PTAs commemorates the anniversary each February with a luncheon featuring a special guest speaker. Check our home page regularly for information about this year’s event.

Arts in Education:  Reflections — Started by National PTA in 1969, the  goal of PTA’s Arts in Education: Reflections program is to be a resource for PTA leaders in partnering with schools to provide opportunities for all students to explore and be involved in the arts. Each fall, millions of students across the country submit entries in six categories for competition. Winning entries are selected at the Council, State and National level.

Training — The number one priority of PTA is to provide our volunteer leaders, across the state, with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their role within PTA.  Access to quality educational resources is a key component in supporting this success, as well as continuing to build strong Local and Council PTAs.  Check the homepage for upcoming trainings.
